Officials Identify Man, 45, Fatally Struck by BART Train

Kevin West was killed at the Richmond BART station on Friday afternoon.

A 45-year-old Oakland man was identified as the person struck and killed by a train at the Richmond BART station on Friday.
 
Kevin West was killed in the collision reported around 4:30 p.m. Friday at the station located at 1700 Nevin Ave., according to a Contra Costa County coroner's deputy. The Richmond station was closed for several hours Friday evening during the investigation into the fatal collision.

The El Cerrito del Norte station was also closed for about an hour. Witnesses at the Richmond station said they saw West go onto the tracks on his own before being struck by the train, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said.
 
Trost said no foul play is suspected in West's death.
