Mechanics Bank in Albany Robbed

Police are still looking for the robber.

A man who robbed in Albany on Wednesday remains at large after an extensive police search, officials said Thursday.

Police said they received a call at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday about a robbery in progress at the bank, at 801 San Pablo Ave.

The man "simulated a weapon" in his sweatshirt pocket, and demanded cash from the teller, according to the .

After the robbery, he ran southbound from the bank toward Solano Avenue east of Kains Avenue.

The man was described as a light-skinned black man, 35-40 years old, with a thin build. He was wearing what appeared to be prescription glasses, a camouflage baseball-type cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans, police said.
