Man and Girlfriend Arrested for Burglary

Man is arrested after being confronted by homeowner on Douglas Drive.

Police arrested a 28-year-old Antioch man and his girlfriend Thursday on suspicion of collaborating on a burglary on the 1500 block of Douglas Drive.

Police received a report of the burglary at around 3:20 p.m., after the homeowner confronted the suspect in his home and called 911, Detective Sgt. Scott Cliatt said. The suspected burglar ran out of the house with property from the home, but was quickly apprehended by police. The property was recovered.

The suspect was identified as Jose Herrera.

"There were quite a few (police) units in the area immediately," Cliatt said. "When something like that happens, everyone pretty much goes to it immediately if they're not involved with something else."

The man's girlfriend was acting as the getaway driver and police arrested her after she happened to be driving by, Cliatt said.
