Pernard Muldrow fell from a sixth-story window onto a fourth-floor balcony in 2013.
A jury in Martinez today found that a man who fell to his death from a sixth-floor Richmond apartment last October died by accident after refusing to speak to police officers.
The jury made the finding at a Contra Costa County coroner's inquest today to determine whether the 47-year-old Link Pernard Muldrow's death on Oct. 21, 2013 occurred due to suicide, natural causes, by accident or at the hands of another other.
The county coroner's office holds inquests for all officer-involved deaths. Muldrow died on after falling from a sixth-story window onto a fourth-floor balcony at the Nevin Plaza housing project at 2400 Nevin Ave., police and county sheriff's officials said. Muldrow barricaded himself inside the apartment after police arrived at the residence in response to reports of a domestic disturbance, authorities said.
Sheriff's officials said it appears Muldrow slipped or jumped out of the sixth-story window while attempting to evade police. Officers found him suffering from major injuries on a fourth-floor balcony. He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek where he was pronounced dead.
