Injury Accidents Slow Traffic on I-80

Two injury accidents on Interstate Highway 80 near El Cerrito slowed commuter traffic Thursday afternoon.

An injury accident involving a motorcycle on Interstate Highway 80 eastbound near Carlson Boulevard was reported at 6:23 p.m. today, Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP report said the right shoulder of the freeway was still blocked shortly before 7 p.m., slowing traffic.

Earlier, three lanes of westbound I-80 in San Pablo closed this afternoon, Thursday, because of a crash, a CHP officer said.

The accident was reported at about 3:55 p.m. on westbound Highway 80, just west of the El Portal Drive off-ramp, Officer Ron Simmons said.

Details of the crash are not yet clear, but Simmons said three people suffered major injuries. A Sig-alert was issued at 3:59 p.m., when the CHP blocked all four lanes of westbound Highway 80, Simmons said.

Medical crews were working to transport the three injured people to hospitals, he said.
