The El Cerrito police blotter for Oct. 1-4 includes two home burglaries, a man arrested for alleged indecent exposure on Fairmount Avenue and a Safeway shoplifting arrest where friends of the suspect attacked store security employees.

OCTOBER 1 

Auto Burglary – 500 Block Albemarle St 
An unknown suspect forced the door lock of the victim’s vehicle between 9/29/12 at 1900 hours and 10/1/12 at 1230 hours, ransacked it, and stole change. 

Residential Burglary – 600 Block Colusa Ave 
An unknown suspect forced entry to the victims’ residence between 0830 and 1645 hours via a side door and ransacked the residence. 

Vehicle Theft & Possession of Stolen Property - Blake St @ Walnut Ave 
Officer Wong arrested three juveniles for being in possession of a stolen vehicle that was taken the day prior in El Cerrito. The juveniles were also in possession of several GPS devices which were stolen from several unlocked cars. Two of the juveniles were transported to juvenile hall and the third was released to a parent. 

Vehicle Theft - 5040 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Arnaiz reports the theft of a 1991 Acura Legend between the hours of 0845 and 1645. 

OCTOBER 2 

Attempted Residential Burglary – 100 Block of Carmel Ave 
Officer Li reports on 10/01/12 between 1000 & 1800 hours unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into a residence by pulling on the garage door, damaging the door and mechanical arm. No entry appears to have been made to the garage or residence. 

Under the Influence of Narcotics Arrest – San Pablo Ave & Blake St 
Officers at 6:27 am responded to a report of a female reporting she had been raped in a building near Blake Ave and Lexington Ave. The female was located walking with her boyfriend on San Pablo Ave near Safeway. The interview with her discovered she had been smoking heroin during the night and no sexual assault had occurred. She was evaluated and subsequently arrested for being under the influence. She was booked and transported to Martinez Detention Facility. 

Warrant Arrest / Possession of Drugs – Eureka Ave & Everett St 
Officer Jacala contacted two students 1250 hours from El Cerrito High School at Eureka Ave & Everett St, during school hours. Officer Jacala found one in possession of marijuana and the other with a warrant for his arrest from Sacramento County. He detained both juveniles and released one to his mother and the other to Juvenile Hall. TOC: 1250 hours 

Parolee-at-Large / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – S. 55th St & Gately Ave 
Officer Li conducted a traffic stop at 1407 hours on a suspicious vehicle he saw driving in the area of S. 53rd and School St. The driver, a man from Richmond, was found to be in possession of a narcotics smoking pipe and unlicensed. The passenger, a woman from Sacramento, was found in possession of a narcotics smoking pipe and was a wanted parolee. Both were booked, the man was cited and released and the woman was transported to Martinez Detention Facility on her warrant. 

Indecent Exposure – Fairmount Avenue/BART Path 
Officer Elder reports that a passerby saw a 21-year-old man exposing himself while seated on a bench in plain view. The witness identified the man and officers arrested him. He was booked, cited and released. 

Residential Burglary– Ashbury Avenue 
Officer Thepkaysone reports that sometime between 0650 and 1626 hours on 10/02/12, unknown suspect(s) pried open a side door, entered and stole jewelry and electronics from a residence. 

Miscellaneous Casualty – 500 Block Oak Street 
Officer Elder reports that 22-year-old man, distraught over a break up, tried to cut himself with a razor blade and overdosed on nicotine patches in an effort to do himself harm. He was sent to Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center for evaluation. 

OCTOBER 3 

Possession of a Controlled Substance - San Pablo Ave & Moeser Lane 
Officer Elder Conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the contact, he located suspected methamphetamine in the driver’s possession. Officer Elder arrested the driver, a 32-year-old woman from Richmond, and booked, cited and released her. 

Shoplifting – Lucky’s, El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Jacala responded, at 1430 hours, to a shoplifter placed under Citizens Arrest by the store’s Loss Prevention Officer for stealing merchandize. Officer Jacala checked the man’s criminal history and learned that he had previous convictions for theft and robbery, making the crime a felony. Officer Jacala booked the man and took him to county jail. 

OCTOBER 4 

Warrant Arrest – Stockton Ave & Norvell Ave 
At 0830 hours, Officer Purdy arrested a man wanted for an El Cerrito drunk driving warrant. He was booked, cited and released. 

Commercial Burglary – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave 
Officer Aguilar responded to a call of a shoplifter. He learned that loss prevention detained a man for shoplifting. While the agents made their citizen arrest, the man’s friends attacked the loss prevention agents in an attempt to free their friend. The man was still under citizen arrest, when Officer Aguilar arrived. Unfortunately, the man’s friends ran away before police units. Officers booked the man for burglary and took him to county jail.
