Fatality Halts Bay Bridge Traffic

Two right lanes closed for two hours while medical examiners respond.

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle and car blocked the two right lanes on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge for nearly two hours today, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The crash was reported at about 10:45 a.m. between a motorcycle and a gray Toyota Avalon near the bridge's S-curve. The motorcyclist was ejected and thrown against the wall and fencing on the north side of the bridge and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger in the Toyota were not injured, the CHP said.
