Fatal Crash Closes I-80 Westbound in El Cerrito

A fatal collision on Interstate 80 at Cutting Boulevard in El Cerrito tonight, Sunday, closed the westbound freeway for almost three hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.

All lanes of westbound Interstate 80 in El Cerrito are open after a fatal collision closed the road for several hours Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol said.

The collision, at westbound 80 at the Cutting Boulevard off-ramp, was first reported at about 8:50 p.m. Sunday, the CHP said.

It involved at least two cars, including a black SUV, and killed one person, according to the CHP.

All four lanes of westbound Highway 80 were closed as the CHP investigated the scene and crews cleared the roadway, according to the CHP.

The Sig-alert, which was issued just after 9 p.m., was canceled at about 11:30 p.m. after the roadway was cleared, the CHP said.

No information about the person killed in the collision was immediately available.
