A fatal collision blocked the Central Avenue off-ramp from westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 1:40 a.m., near the El Cerrito border in Richmond, when CHP officers saw a vehicle with a flat tire traveling westbound on I-80. The vehicle crashed and went over the embankment onto Central Avenue, according to the CHP.
One person was killed in the collision. The identity of the deceased has not been released. CHP officials said the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
