Family Dog Dies in San Pablo House Fire, 4 Residents Displaced

The fire at 2996 Flannery Road happened around 8 p.m. last night.

A fire in San Pablo Thursday night left a family home uninhabitable, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection district.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a single-story home at 2996 Flannery Road shortly after 8 p.m., according to Acting Battalion Chief Steve Akre. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions throughout the home, Akre said.

The family of four had already evacuated the home when crews arrived, but the family's small dog died inside a smoke-filled bedroom, Akre said. Firefighters suspect the fire may have had an electrical cause, Akre said. The residents are staying with family in the area, Akre said.
