El Cerrito Police Blotter: Many DUIs, Vandalism, Burglary

December 20 

DUI Arrest Warrant – 5900 block of Jordan Ave. 
An officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 20-year-old El Cerrito man for an outstanding DUI arrest warrant. The man was released with a citation. 

DUI Checkpoint – San Pablo Ave., between Hill St. and Cutting Blvd. El Cerrito Police hosted a multi-agency DUI Checkpoint from 10 a.m. hours to 3 a.m. 

Transportation of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana for Sale – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd. 
At approximately 10:54 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 32-year-old Sacramento man for transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd. 
During the DUI checkpoint, an officer arrested a driver, a 44-year-old Richmond man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.

At 10:39 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 26-year-old Richmond woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Driving under influence – Kearney St. / Madison Ave. 
At 1:16 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 34-year-old Martinez woman for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Driving under the Influence – Liberty St. / Moeser Ln. 
At 1:23 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 35-year-old Richmond woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Driving under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Schmidt Ln. 
At 2:25 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 20-year-old San Pablo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Vandalism – 7300 block of Cutting Blvd. 
At 2:36 a.m., officers were dispatched to a vehicle burglary that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver’s side window was shattered but no entry was made into the vehicle. Officers located several other vehicles in the block in the same condition. It appeared the windows were shattered with a bb or pellet. Twelve vehicles were vandalized in the same manner on the hillside. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle, Probation Violation, Possession of Methamphetamine – I-80 E/B at Cutting Blvd. 
At 3:50 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and noticed the steering column, on the vehicle, was damaged. The officer learned that the driver, a 31-year-old Richmond man, was on probation for vehicle theft and that the vehicle was stolen. Additional officers arrived on scene and took the man into custody. Officers found methamphetamine during a search of the suspect. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

December 21 

Driving under the Influence – Parking lot of 11299 San Pablo Ave. 
At 5:01 p.m., an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested the driver, a 48-year-old Transient woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Attempted robbery, Assault with a deadly weapon – Hillside Nature area 
At 5:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to an attempted robbery in which the victim was stabbed in the stomach. The victim drove himself to the hospital and called 911 on the way. Officers caught up to the victim at the hospital and learned that the victim was on the trail in Hillside nature area when he was confronted by the suspect who demanded his property. When the victim refused, he was stabbed with an unknown object in the stomach. The suspect is described as an unknown race male wearing dark clothing and a skull half mask. Officers are continuing to investigate the incident. 

DUI probation violation – 1200 block of Norvell St. 
At 10:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence for an intoxicated male that was unwelcome in the house. An officer contacted a 32-year-old El Cerrito man and found him to be extremely intoxicated. A records check of the man revealed that he was on probation for DUI and banned from consuming alcohol. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department before being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Domestic Battery, Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 6000 block of Potrero Ave. 
At 10:51 p.m., officers were dispatched to a battery that occurred. Officers arrived to find a victim that had been struck several times in the face and stomped on by her boyfriend. The suspect had fled prior to police arrival. The victim declined medical treatment and chose to remain on scene. 

Warrant Arrest – 11500 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 11:19 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Vallejo man, for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation. 

Driving under the Influence – Central Ave. / San Mateo St. 
At 1:33 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 24-year-old San Pablo woman, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Driving under the Influence – Lexington Ave. / Potrero Ave. 
At 2:09 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 21-year-old Richmond man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance – Carlson Blvd. / Fairmount Ave. 
At 2:17 a.m., an officer conducted a bicycle enforcement stop and arrested a 64-year-old Albany man for possession of methamphetamine. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending lab results. 

December 22 

Residential burglary – 900 block of Everett St. 
Between 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 1, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s attached laundry room / carport and stole tools, electronics and miscellaneous items. 

Mental Health Evaluation – 11450 San Pablo Ave. 
At 11:43 a.m., an officer committed a 41-year-old transient woman for a psychiatric evaluation after she stated she was going to kill herself because she was cold. The woman was transported to the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center. 

December 23 

Commercial burglary – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave. 
At 6:30 p.m., an officer arrested a 29-year-old Union City man for theft. The man is a security guard for a retail store and was observed by loss prevention stealing items during his shift. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Pills without Prescription – San Pablo Ave. / Portola Dr. 
At 9:54 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 50-year-old Richmond man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. During a search of the vehicle, officers located several baggies of marijuana and prescription pills not prescribed to the man. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.

At 3 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 43-year-old Richmond man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative.
