El Cerrito Police Blotter: Indecent Exposure, Residential Robbery

The El Cerrito Police Department selected and wrote the following items. 

November 12 

Residential Burglary - 6800 block of Glen Mawr Avenue 
At 6:42 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a residential burglary. The officer investigated and found that an exterior window had been pried open to gain entry into the home. No items were stolen. 

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Avenue and Waldo Avenue 
At 10:49 p.m., an officer contacted a 55-year-old man from Albany and learned that he had a warrant for his arrest. The officer booked the man at ECPD and released him with a citation and a new court date. 

Vehicle Theft - 7200 block of Blake St. 
An unknown suspect stole a 2000 Honda Civic between Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 7 a.m.

Petty Theft - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
On Nov. 12 at 3:30 p.m., a 20-year-old homeless man was arrested by store security for stealing over $400.00 dollars in merchandise. The man was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation. 

Indecent Exposure - El Cerrito Plaza 
On Nov. 12 at 4:47 p.m. officers responded to the Plaza on the report of a male exposing himself near the creek area. Officers responded to the area and located a 48-year-old El Cerrito man. The victim did not want the man arrested and just wanted the incident documented. 

Warrant Arrest - South 56th St. at Potrero Ave. 
On Nov. 12 at 2:14 p.m., a officer arrested a 52-year-old homeless man on an outstanding warrant during a pedestrian contact. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

November 13 

Mental Health Evaluation - 800 block of Shevlin Drive 
At 5:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of a woman wandering in the roadway who appeared lost and confused. An officer located a 56-year-old woman from El Cerrito walking in the middle of the street. The officer recognized the woman from previous contacts and recognized that she has a history of mental illness and drug abuse. The officer evaluated the woman’s mental state and decided to refer her for a mental health evaluation at the Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center. An ambulance crew transported the woman to the hospital. 

Warrant Arrest and Possession of Narcotics for Sale 
At 7:07 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a bicyclist for riding the wrong way in traffic. The officer conducted a records check and learned that the 30-year-old man from Richmond had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. The warrants included crimes for domestic violence, battery, narcotics for sale, and possession of a weapon. The officer searched the man and located numerous individual bags of marijuana, a portable scale, and a pipe for smoking methamphetamine. The officer arrested the man and booked him at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the officer transported the man to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Drunk in Public - 5700 block of Lassen Street 
At 1:29 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the backyard of a residence. Officers located a 27-year-old homeless man in the backyard. The homeowner did not know the man and had not given him permission to be on the property. The man displayed symptoms of heavy intoxication and he believed that he was in his hometown of Sonora. An officer arrested the man and transported him to the Martinez Detention Facility for being drunk in public. 

Drunk-in-Public - 3090 El Cerrito Plaza 
At approximately 11:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Plaza on the report of a male causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 48-year-old homeless man and found him to be extremely intoxicated. The officers arrested the man and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

November 14 

Vehicle Theft - 700 block of Elm St.- 
An unknown suspect stole a 1999 Honda Civic on Nov. 13 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Grand Theft - 2300 block of Mono Ave. 
On Nov. 14 between 11 a.m. and 11:39 a.m., an unknown suspect stole several power tools, which the owner left near the front of a house. Fortunately, the contractor recorded the license plate of a suspicious vehicle, which was in the area around the time of the theft. Officers are conducting follow up in hopes of identifying the suspect and locating the stolen property. 

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Avenue and Central Avenue 
At 11:45 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and arrested the driver, a 23-year-old Pittsburg man, for an outstanding warrant out of Marin County for theft. The officer booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then released him with a citation and a new court date.
