El Cerrito Man Surrenders In Yreka Gold Robbery

David Johnson is a suspect in the theft of more than $1 million in gold and jewelry from the Siskiyou County Courthouse.

El Cerrito's David Dean Johnson turned himself in to authorities Thursday after being charged in a gold robbery.

Johnson, 49, and Scott Wayne Bailey, 51, of El Sobrante are two of the suspects in the Jan. 31, 2012 robbery at the Siskiyou County Courthouse. Burglars broke into the courthouse and stole $1,257,500 in gold, jewelry and artifacts.

Johnson is being held in custody in lieu of $1 million bail, according to a report from ABC affiliate KRCR. His preliminary hearing is set for April 15. Bailey was arrested Thursday in San Pablo on a warrant arrest.
