Fire Burns Garage on Eureka Avenue in El Cerrito
Firefighters from three jurisdictions – El Cerrito, Kensington and Richmond – successfully contained a fire in a garage next to a home on Eureka Avenue near Seaview Drive in El Cerrito Friday night. The cause was not readily apparent.
A fire broke out in a garage next to a home on Eureka Avenue near Seaview Drive in El Cerrito Friday night and was successfully contained by fire departments from three communities.
El Cerrito fire officials said they received a 911 call about 6:50 p.m. about the blaze at 7716 Eureka Avenue in El Cerrito between Seaview and Balra Drive.
Firefigters from El Cerrito, Richmond and Kensignton responded and put the fire out within 20 minutes. An El Cerrito firefighter said the cause was unclear and that the damage was minimal and limited to the garage.

The home's owner was able to evacuate safely. Power and gas were cut to the home, but otherwise the house remained inhabitable.
