EC Fire Helps El Sobrante Family Displaced by Fire
Firefighters from the El Cerrito, Richmond and Pinole fire departments were called to the home of an El Sobrante family Monday when a fire broke out at their duplex while the mother was at work.
Firefighters were forced to enter the apartment on the 2400 block of Diane Drive after finding a room in the back of the apartment fully engulfed in flames, authorities said.
The Contra Costa Times reports a 57-year-old woman and her 19-year-old son were displaced. Battalion Chief Brian Lowry said no injuries were reported, however, the blaze caused $50,000 in damage to the home and its contents.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be an electrical malfunction.
