Crash Ends in Arrest of Man Suspected of Stealing Two Cars

THURSDAY, MAY 5

Controlled Substance – At around 11:50 p.m., police arrested a 54-year-old Concord man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance during a traffic stop.

Theft – Police arrested a 15-year-old Bay Point boy and a 17-year-old El Cerrito boy on suspicion of theft at El Cerrito Plaza. Police arrested the boys after responding to a report of juveniles tampering with vehicles at around 7:25 p.m.

Assault – Police arrested a 29-year-old El Cerrito man on suspicion of assault. Police arrested the man after responding to a report of a disturbance on the 3300 block of Belmont Avenue at around 12:05 a.m.

Theft – At around 11:05 a.m., police arrested a 57-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of committing at theft at the International House of Pancakes in the 11500 block of San Pablo Avenue.

SUNDAY, MAY 15

Illegal Weapon – At around 8:05 a.m., police arrested a 31-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of possessing an illegal weapon. Police found the weapon after stopping the man while he was walking.

MONDAY, MAY 16

Man Arrested After He Allegedly Stole Two Cars – Police arrested a 29-year-old Richmond man after he allegedly stole two cars in El Cerrito and crashed into another vehicle in Richmond. At around 11:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle theft on the 500 block of Colusa Avenue. Officers attempted to apprehend the driver at Havens Place and Arlington Boulevard, but he fled in the stolen vehicle, which he abandoned on the 8300 block of Buckingham Drive, at the edge of the Hillside Natural Area.

Police soon located the alleged car thief after he had stolen another vehicle on the 7400 block of Park Vista Avenue. Police began to pursue the man but stopped because his driving became too erratic and dangerous. Eventually, the man drove into Richmond, where he collided into another vehicle. El Cerrito and Richmond police arrived and arrested the suspected thief as he attempted to run away.
