Cops Swarm to El Cerrito Home for Search Warrant

About 18-20 law enforcement officers, including the sheriff of Siskiyou County, converged on a home in El Cerrito Tuesday morning to serve a search warrant. So far, they're keeping mum, saying they don't want to endanger their investigation.

The 200 block of Pomona Avenue in El Cerrito saw an unsually large influx of law enforcement officers Tuesday morning when about 18-20 members of several police and sheriff agencies served a search warrant.

The warrant was from Siskiyou County, and the county's sheriff, Jon Lopey, joined in the warrant service, which took place about 11 a.m., according to Sgt. James Randall of the sheriff's department.

Assisting in the action were about 10 officers from the El Cerrito police department, said El Cerrito police Lt. Paul Keith.

Randall said he could not release details about the case because it is "ongoing investigation" that the sheriff's department does not want to compromise. He said another search warrant was served the same day in the El Sobrante area.

The 200 block of Pomona is about a block from Harding Elementary School.

Keith estimated that about 20 law enforcement personnel participated in serving the search warrant in El Cerrito. Randall estimated the total number at about 18. He said the group included officers from a joint task force.
