Blotter: Robber Forcibly Removes Woman's iPhone in Park

The El Cerrito Crime Blotter for June 25-27 includes the strong-arm robbery of an iPhone from a woman's sweatshirt pocket at Creekside Park and the arrest of a man who allegedly knocked a cell phone out of the hands of Safeway worker.

June 25th 2012 

Public Intoxication – 10000 block of San Pablo Avenue 
Officers responded to a disturbance and contacted a 25 year old woman who was heavily intoxicated and belligerent. The woman was unable to care for herself and was taken into custody. 

Strongarm Robbery – Creekside Park 
A woman was walking in the park listening to music on her iPhone through earbuds when an unknown suspect forcibly removed the iPhone from her sweatshirt pocket and ran northbound on Belmont Avenue. The victim went to her home and called the police. 

June 26th 2012 

Battery / Vandalism – 11450 San Pablo Ave. 
Officers arrested a 19 year-old male after he slapped a cell phone from a Safeway employee attempting to take his photograph. The Safeway employee was trying to take the subject’s photo after suspecting he took items from the store. 

Stolen Vehicle – 11720 San Pablo Ave. 
Unknown suspect(s) stole a maroon 1996 Nissan, Altima, 4-door. The theft occurred between 6/25/12 2100 hours & 6/26/12 1330 hours. 

Warrant Arrest- I-80 @ Carlson Boulevard 
Officers arrested a 35 year-old male on an outstanding parole violation warrant during a traffic stop. The male was booked at the ECPD and then transferred to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Felony Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Avenue @ Potrero Avenue Officers arrested a 53 year-old man for driving under the influence of alcohol, with prior convictions for the same offense. The driver was booked at the ECPD and transferred to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

June 27th 2012

Warrant Arrest – Ellis St @ Fleming Ave. 
A 23 year old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. 

Residential Burglary- 700 block of Pomona Avenue 
700 Block of Pomona Avenue- At 1800 hours (6:00pm), homeowners returned to find two suspects burglarizing their residence. The suspects fled the home through a window and were spotted by a neighbor. As officers were responding, a vehicle occupied by two additional suspects fled the scene. Additional citizens reported seeing the suspects as they fled on foot. Officers spotted the two suspects on Richmond Street at Oak Street as they fled through several backyards. A perimeter was established and a K-9 track was conducted. The first suspect, a male resident of Oakland was located by Officers in a backyard. The second suspect a male resident of Oakland was located by K-9 Officer Koda hiding behind an air conditioning unit in another yard. The suspects were also found to be in possession of property from a burglary that occurred earlier in the day in a neighboring city. Detectives are continuing to develop information on the identity of the other suspects as well as other potential victims.
