Blotter: Police Nab 9 Suspects in 3 Days in Various Incidents

The El Cerrito Police Blotter for July 16-19 shows nine people nabbed by police for various alleged crimes, including two in shoplifting cases at Lucky Supermarket and one with burglary tools who triggered a car alarm.

JULY 16th 2012 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle- 1700 block of Liberty Street 
Officer Purdy recovered a Toyota Camry reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department in June. 

Stolen Vehicle- 7300 block of Ganges Court 
Officer Cheng reports that a Honda Accord was stolen from in front of the victim’s residence by an associate of the victim. The vehicle was later returned to the victim by the associate. 

JULY 17th 2012 

Theft from Auto- 3200 block of Yosemite Avenue 
An alert resident called police to report two subjects entering unlocked vehicles parked on the street during the early morning hours. The resident provided a description of the suspects and their last known direction. Officers detained a 20 year old El Cerrito man and a 16 year old Richmond boy. Officers located stolen property on their person and the witness positively identified them. 

Stolen Vehicle- 3300 block of Yosemite Avenue 
The victim reported their Acura Legend was stolen from in front of their residence. 

Stolen Vehicle- 2300 block of Carquinez Avenue 
A thief stole the victim’s Scion xB. 

Stolen Vehicle- 1500 block of Lexington Avenue 
Officer Thepkaysone reports that the victim’s Saturn was stolen from in front of their residence and recovered in Richmond that same day. 

Warrant Arrest- 5900 block of Avila Street 
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance and arrested a 34-year-old female, from El Cerrito, for an outstanding warrant from Marin County. She was booked and transported the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Warrant Arrest- Ross Clothing Company 2000 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Guzman contacted two suspicious persons behind Ross and arrested a 39-year-old man from Oakland after he discovered the man was a parolee at large. He was booked and transported the Martinez Detention Facility. 

JULY 18th 2012 

Possession of a Controlled Substance- San Pablo Avenue and Fairmount Avenue 
Officer Li conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 23-year-old Martinez woman, driver for possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Vehicle Collision (Automobile vs. Pedestrian)- Central Avenue and Liberty Street 
Officers responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers discovered that the pedestrian was struck while crossing the intersection in the crosswalk. The slow speed collision caused minor injuries and the pedestrian refused medical treatment. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision. 

Public Intoxication- San Pablo Avenue and Columbia Avenue 
Officers contacted an intoxicated 16-year-old male from Richmond, at approximately 0200 hours, walking along the sidewalk. Officers cited the juvenile for being out past the nighttime curfew and for public intoxication. Officers took him home and released him to his mother. 

JULY 19th 2012 

Stolen License Plates- 5300 block of School Street 
The victim reported that the license plate to his vehicle parked in front of his house was stolen. 

Public Intoxication and Resisting Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Potrero Avenue 
Officer Guzman contacted an intoxicated 64-year-old El Cerrito man, who was drinking beer at the bus stop. The man was intoxicated and refused to follow Officer Guzman’s orders. Officer Guzman arrested the man and transported him to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Shoplifting- Lucky Supermarket, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Strang accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 57-year-old man from Oakland after he stole items and resisted arrest when loss prevention agents attempted to detain him outside of the store. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Shoplifting- Lucky Supermarket 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Li accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 27-year-old man from Albany after loss prevention agents caught him stealing liquor. Due to the man’s criminal history, he was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Burglary Tools 
In the early morning hours, officers responded to a report of suspicious person who walked away from a vehicle after the car alarm sounded. Officers located a man blocks away that fit the description of the subject and discovered he was in possession of drug paraphernalia and burglary tools. Officers learned that the 36-year-old Concord man was currently on parole and arrested him. Officers booked the man at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported him to the Martinez Detention Facility.
