Blotter: Home Burglaries, Shoplifting Arrest, Stolen Vehicles

The El Cerrito Crime Blotter for July 10-12 includes a burglary on Don Carol Drive, more detail in the earlier reported arrest of three juveniles with a loaded gun in a Sonoma Avenue burglary, and a Lucky shoplifting arrest.

JULY 10th 2012 

Shoplifting - Lucky’s Supermarket, 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officers responded to Lucky’s for a report of shoplifting. Employees followed a 39-year-old man to the El Cerrito Plaza BART station where El Cerrito Officers arrested him. 

Stolen Vehicle - 400 block of Kearney Street 
An unknown suspect stole a Honda Civic sometime between 2300 on 7/9 and 0620 hours on 7/10. 

Possession of Stolen Property - Music Works 11225 San Pablo Avenue 
Officer Albrandt arrested a 45-year-old Richmond man after he attempted to sell a stolen guitar to the business. 

Trespassing - 5300 block of School Street 
Officers responded to a report of trespassing at a residence and contacted a 51-year-old man and a 33-year-old man at the home. They were cited and released. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - Super 8 Motel, 6009 Potrero Avenue 
Officer Maldonado recovered a stolen Saturn reported to San Rafael PD. 

JULY 11th 2012 

Warrant Arrest - El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Li arrested a 19-year-old female for an outstanding arrest warrant. The woman was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Warrant Arrest - El Cerrito Plaza 
Sergeant Caputo arrested a 23-year-old male for an outstanding arrest warrant. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue and Carlson Boulevard 
Sgt. Caputo conducted a traffic enforcement stop and the 19-year-old female driver from El Cerrito was arrested for DUI. After booking she was cited and released. 

Stolen Vehicle – 1400 Richmond St. 
Officer Albrandt reports that an unknown suspect stole the victim’s van and left it on 30th St. in Richmond. The GPS system on the van helped officers find it quickly. 

Warrant Arrests – San Pablo Ave. at Lincoln Ave. 
Officer Cheng stopped a vehicle and arrested a 33-year-old San Francisco man and a 27-year-old Richmond man on traffic warrants. 

Residential Burglary – 8600 block of Don Carol Dr. 
An unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence, today, and ransacked the interior. The homeowner could not immediately identify the amount of the loss. 

Public Intoxication – IFO Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Ave. 
Officer Maldonado arrested a 22-year-old transient man after he engaged in semi-friendly mutual combat with another transient. Officers took the man to county jail. 

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Avenue and Barrett Avenue 
During a traffic enforcement stop, Officer Li arrested a 52 year old man from Richmond for an outstanding no bail warrant for a DUI probation violation. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

JULY 12th 2012 

Residential Burglary, Conspiracy & Possession of a Loaded Concealed Handgun – 2600 Block of Sonoma Ave. & Hazel Ave. @ Carquinez Ave. 
Officers responded to a residential burglary alarm on Sonoma Ave. At the same time, residents called about suspicious juveniles casing houses. An El Cerrito Detective located and detained one of the juveniles on Hazel Ave. at Carquinez Ave., acting as a lookout. Officers searched him and found him in possession of a loaded concealed handgun. Officers searched a nearby backyard and found his accomplices hiding in a shed. The juvenile suspects, a 15 and 16 year old from San Pablo and a 16 year old from Richmond, went to Juvenile Hall in Martinez.
