BART Police Seek Info on Injured Man "Mystery" at El Cerrito Station

BART police are asking for public help in learning what happened at the del Norte BART station last week when a man was found bleeding and unconscious. One rider who left the scene reported two men fighting beforehand.

BART police are seeking the public's help in finding out what happened to a 46-year-old man who was found unconscious and bleeding at the El Cerrito del Norte BART station last week.

The man was found by a station agent shortly after 7 p.m. on June 19 after a BART rider reported two males fighting in the bus zone, BART police said.

The rider who reported the fight had left the scene, and there were no other witnesses around when the station agent found the victim, police said.

BART police spokeswoman Era Jenkins said today that the victim has been treated at a hospital and released. He does not remember what happened at the BART station or how he was injured.

Jenkins said the man told investigators he was missing money, and she said it is possible he is the victim of a robbery. She called the case "a big mystery."
