In the early hours of Thurday, BART police arrested Dennis McGuire outside his residence in the 4200 block of 24th Street in San Francisco, BART said Thursday. McGuire has "a lengthy criminal history" and is "suspected of being involved in thefts of copper cable from the BART system," the transit agency said in a news release.

A search of his residence found "additional evidence of metal theft, including lengths of cable suspected of being stolen from BART," according to the release. Police also found small amounts of illegal drugs, the transit agency said.
