Armed Robbery on Street, Burglary Attempt at Occupied Home

The El Cerrito Police Blotter for Nov. 23-25 includes an armed robbery of a victim by two gunmen on foot at Liberty and Oak streets and an attempted burglary of a home where the resident didn't answer the doorbell rung by the burglar.

November 23 

Driving under the Influence - Contra Costa Drive at Shevlin Drive 
Officer Schillinger arrested a 36-year-old El Cerrito resident for DUI after the resident was involved in an accident with a parked vehicle. 

Stolen Vehicle - Carlson Boulevard at I-80 
Officer Evans arrested a 25-year-old Oakland resident for driving a stolen minivan. The van was stolen from San Pablo. The suspect was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Disorderly Conduct - 1200 block of Liberty Street 
Officer Wong arrested a 41-year-old El Cerrito resident for public intoxication during a disturbing the peace call. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance - San Pablo Avenue at Potrero Avenue 
Officer Wong arrested a 51-year-old Richmond resident for being in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic enforcement stop. 

Possession of Stolen Property and Burglary Tools - 1700 block of Ganges Avenue 
Officer Schillinger arrested a 25-year-old Richmond resident for being in possession of stolen mail and burglary tools during a pedestrian contact. 

Warrant Arrest - 2000 block of Tapscott Avenue 
Cpl. Wahrlich arrested a 33-year-old El Cerrito resident on an outstanding Ramey warrant. The female suspect was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the MDF. 

Warrant Arrest - Belmont Avenue @ Central Avenue 
Officer Wells arrested a 35-year-old San Francisco man a warrant during a pedestrian contact. The subject was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the MDF. 

Vehicle Theft - 10700 block of San Pablo Avenue 
Officer Aguilar reports that an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1997 Honda Accord between the hours of 0700 and 0730 on 11/23. 

Stolen Vehicle Recovery - 10700 block of San Pablo Avenue 
While investigating the above case, Officer Aguilar recovered a 1992 Honda Civic, which was reported stolen to the San Pablo Police Department on 11/21. 

Armed Robbery - Liberty Street at Oak Street 
Officer Wells reports that two suspects approached the victim on foot, each armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded money and the victim gave up $140.00. The suspects then fled northbound on Liberty St. The victim did not want to report the crime after it occurred because it was Thanksgiving and late. TOO: 11/22/12 0145 hours. 

(S1) – Unknown race male, 5’8”, 150, wearing a light colored jacket and hat. 
(S2) – Unknown race male, 5’8”, 150, wearing unknown clothing. 

Attempted Residential Burglary - 1400 block of Norvell Street 
Officer Aguilar reports that an unknown suspect rang the victim’s doorbell several times. When the victim didn’t answer, the suspect entered the backyard and opened the victim’s sliding glass door. The victim made noise in the residence which scared off the suspect. Nothing was taken from the residence. TOO: 11/22/12 2330 hours. 

Residential Burglary - 2600 block of Tuller Avenue 
Officer Wells reports that an unknown suspect gained entry into the victim’s residence through an unlocked rear window and conducted a major ransack. TOO: 11/22/12 0900 hours to 11/23/12 1145 hours. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance - 1700 block of Eastshore Boulevard 
Officer Wells arrested a 32-year-old Oakland resident for being in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic enforcement stop. 

Warrant Arrest - Santa Clara Avenue @ Lassen Street 
Officer Wells conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 25-year-old Albany resident on an outstanding arrest warrant. 

November 24 

Burglary - 3030 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Evans reports that three unknown subjects entered T-mobile, cut the security cable for two phones and then fled the business. 

Warrant - Carlson Boulevard at San Jose Avenue 
Officer Schillinger arrested a 56-year-old Richmond resident on an outstanding parolee-at-large warrant. The subject was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

November 25 

Possession of a Controlled Substance and Firearm – Kensington Ave. @ Laurel Ave. 
Officer Schillinger arrested a 24-year-old Richmond resident for being in possession of methamphetamine and a loaded firearm during a traffic enforcement stop. The subject was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Commercial Burglary - 9900 Block of San Pablo Ave. 
Officers were dispatched to an alarm call and discovered the front door had been broken with a rock. The burglar stole money was taken from the cash register. 

Commercial Burglary - 9900 Block of San Pablo Ave. 
While officers were investigating another burglary in the area, they discovered that another business in the area had been burglarized. The suspect broke out the glass portion of the front door and removed cash from the register.
