Another Craigslist Armed Robbery, 3 Stolen Cars

The El Cerrito police blotter for Sept. 10-13 lists the armed robbery of person who responded to Craigslist ad to buy a car, two shoplifting arrests, three cars stolen and the recovery of four stolen cars and a stolen motorcycle.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2012 

Shoplifting plus Warrant Arrest – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue 
Officer Schillinger reports the arrest of a 49 year old man from Richmond after he stole $200 worth of meat products from Safeway. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for a similar theft from Safeway earlier this year. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Shoplifting - CVS 670 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officer Jacala reports the arrest of a 26 year old man from El Cerrito after he was detained by loss prevention agents for stealing. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation. 

Stolen Vehicle - 5300 block of Cypress Avenue 
Officer Wong reports the victim’s 1994 Saturn was stolen sometime between 11:00 and 11:30 hours. 

Auto Burglary and Possession of a Controlled Substance - 5800 block of El Dorado Street 
Officers responded to a report of a man breaking into a vehicle. When officers arrived they found that neighbors had detained the suspect in the vehicle. The 24 year old San Pablo man fought with officers as they attempted to take him into custody. The man was in possession of several recently stolen items from other vehicles in the area and controlled substances. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - 10800 block of San Pablo Avenue 
Officer Schillinger recovered a 1997 Honda Civic reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department on September 7th. The vehicle’s owner arrived on scene to take custody of their vehicle. 

Driving Under the Influence - Central Avenue and San Mateo Avenue 
Sgt. Caputo conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 30 year old male driver from Richmond for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation. 

SEPTEMBER 11, 2012 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - Santa Clara Street and El Dorado Street 
Officer Wells recovered a 1996 Honda Accord reported stolen to Richmond PD on 09/08/12. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - 900 block of Ashbury Avenue 
Officer Wong recovered a 1994 Ford Explorer reported stolen to Oakland PD on 09/01/12. 

Auto Burglary - 10100 block of San Pablo Avenue 
Officer Jacala reports an unknown suspect broke the driver’s side window to the victim’s 1994 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The loss is unknown at this time. 

Residential Burglary- 2300 block of Arlington Boulevard 
Officer Purdy reports an unknown suspect kicked in a window to gain access to the home and quickly stole property and fled due to the alarm sounding. 

Driving Under the Influence - Richmond Street and Blake Street 
Officer Elder conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 28 year old female driver from Berkeley for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation. 

SEPTEMBER 12, 2013 

Stolen Vehicle – Safeway, 11450 San Pablo Avenue 
Officer elder reports the victim’s 1994 Acura Integra was stolen from the parking lot of Safeway. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - 6700 block of Glen Mawr Avenue 
Officer Jacala recovered a 1987 Honda motorcycle reported stolen to Albany PD back in December of 2011. The motorcycle was hidden in heavy brush and found by people working in the yard. 

Grand Theft from Vehicle - 2600 block of Monte Vista Avenue 
Officer Purdy reports an unknown suspect gained entry into Honda Accord and stole property from the vehicle. The incident occurred between 6pm on the 11th and 1:30 pm on the 12th. 

Public Intoxication and a Felon in Possession of a Stun Gun - Sky Lounge, 10458 San Pablo Avenue 
Sgt. Caputo was flagged down in front of the Sky Lounge regarding a possible fight. A heavily intoxicated 28 year old Oakland man was detained and found to be in possession of a stun gun in violation of his parole. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

SEPTEMBER 13, 2012 

Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Avenue 
Officer Wong arrested a 49 year old San Francisco man for an outstanding warrant from San Francisco PD. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - 5300 block of Cypress Street 
Officer Wells recovered a 2000 Honda Civic reported stolen to Berkeley PD on 09/10/12. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance - Elm Street and Manor Circle 
Officer Jacala conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 40 year old Redwood City man for possession of a controlled substance. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released pending drug testing by the crime lab. 

Armed Robbery - 5800 block of Charles Avenue 
Officer Alvarez reports that the victims responded to a Craigslist ad to purchase a vehicle and agreed to meet the seller at the above location. Upon arrival, the victims were ambushed by the suspects who brandished a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspects fled on foot to a waiting getaway vehicle. 

Stolen Vehicle - San Pablo Avenue and Carlos Avenue 
Officer Strang reports the victim’s 2000 Honda Civic was stolen between 2000-2200 hours. 

Driving Under the Influence - Central Avenue and San Mateo Avenue 
Officer Thepkaysone conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the 20 year old male driver from Oakland for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.
