6 Home Break-ins in 3 Days in El Cerrito

The El Cerrito Police Blotter for Jan. 11-13 includes six home burglaries, including two where the front door was forced open, a stolen bicycle recovered because of a Craigslist ad and an "extremely intoxicated" 74-year-old man.

January 11, 2013 

Warrant Arrest – Cutting Boulevard and Kearney Street 
Officers arrested a 48-year-old female from Oakland for a narcotics warrant from the Richmond Police Department. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Residential Burglary – 3200 block of Belmont Avenue 
An unknown suspect forced open the front door to the victim’s house and stole property. The crime occurred sometime between 8:00 am and noon. 

Residential Burglary – 600 block of Albermarle Street 
An unknown suspect forced open the front door of the residence, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. No property was stolen. 

Residential Burglary – 7300 block of Plank Ct. 
An unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence through a rear window sometime between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The victim stole property and fled. 

Driving Under the Influence – Cutting Blvd. / Peerless Ave. 
Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 26 year-old San Pablo man, for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend. 

January 12, 2013 

Residential Burglary – 1300 block of Scott Street 
A neighbor reported a broken window on a home on Scott Street. Officers discovered that the home had been burglarized and an unknown amount of property had been stolen between 9:00 pm on January 11 and 8:00 am on January 12. 

Public Intoxication - 10400 block of San Pablo Avenue 
An anonymous person called to report a subject exposing himself in public. Officers contacted an extremely intoxicated 74-year-old male who had urinated on a building. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Stolen Vehicle – El Cerrito Plaza 
An unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1991 Honda Accord sometime between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm from the ElCerrito Plaza. 

Residential Burglary – 6600 block of Gatto Avenue 
The victim reports that an unknown suspect entered the home through the front door and stole property for a second time in the last two days. 

Possession of Stolen Property – 3400 block of Carlson Boulevard 
A victim of a bicycle theft called the El Cerrito Police Department to report that someone stole his bicycle in Berkeley on January 10. The victim posted an ad on Craigslist with a reward for the bike. An anonymous person phoned the victim and advised that a bike fitting the description was seen entering a residence on Carlson Boulevard. Officers contacted the residents and entered the home. Officers recovered the bicycle and interviewed the occupants. The victim later positively identified the bicycle and detectives are sending the case to the District Attorney’s office for prosecution. 

Warrant Arrest – Potrero Ave. / I-80 
Officers conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested a 32-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 160 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officers located a green Honda Civic that had been reported stolen to Pinole PD on 1/12/13. 

January 13, 2013 

Residential Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Warrant Arrest – 6600 block of Gatto Ave. 
A neighbor called police after he saw two suspicious subjects prowling on the property after thieves burglarized the resident twice in the last three days. Officers arrived at the residence and arrested a 46-year-old Richmond man and a 31-year-old Richmond woman. The female was in possession of stolen property from the victim’s residence. Officers learned that the woman had a warrant for her arrest. The male was on probation for residential burglary. Both were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – 1700 block of Barrett Ave. 
Officers conducted a probation search at a residence and subsequently arrested a 42-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
