$1500 Bike Swiped at Plaza, Man with "Simulated Gun" Arrested

The El Cerrito Police Blotter for July 27-29 includes a $1500 bicycle stolen at Barnes & Noble, shoplifting suspects arrested at Lucky and a cell-phone store in El Cerrito Plaza and a woman arrested for alleged DUI after she crashed into a pole.

JULY 27, 2012 

Suspicious Circumstance – Earl Ct. 
Officers responded to a citizen’s call of suspicious subjects on the court. They arrived and found three young men acting suspicious, just as the resident had described. The officers identified the men and did security checks on the homes in the court. Nothing was amiss. 

Shoplifting- Lucky’s 1000 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officers responded to a report of a shoplifter that was taken into custody by loss prevention agents at Lucky’s. Officers took the 43-year-old San Francisco man to the El Cerrito Police Department, booked and released him. 

JULY 28, 2012J

Stolen Vehicle – 1800 block of Key Blvd 
The victim’s 1997 Nissan Maxima was stolen sometime between 1900 hours on the 27th to 0530 hours on the 28th. 

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – S. 55th St at Creely Ave 
A stolen 1997 Honda Accord was recovered unoccupied. The vehicle was reported stolen to San Francisco PD on the 27th. 

Stolen Vehicle Report and Recovery – 6700 Glen Mawr Ave 
The victim’s 1999 Honda Civic was stolen 1900 hours on the 27th to 0530 hours on the 28th . The vehicle was later recovered in the 1800 block of Key Blvd and released to the owner. 

Stolen License Plate- 11700 block of San Pablo Avenue 
The owner of a Toyota Corolla reported that the rear license plate was stolen sometime within the last three weeks. 

July 29, 2012 

Grand Theft – 6050 El Cerrito Plaza 
The victim’s $1500 bicycle was stolen from in front of Barnes and Noble in the El Cerrito Plaza while the victim shopped. 

Under the Influence and Parole Violation – 3500 block of Carlson Blvd 
Officers responded to a report of a man with a gun call and located 40-year-old Berkeley man with a simulated gun. The man was determined to be on parole and under the influence of a controlled substance. Officers arrested him and took him to county jail. 

Stolen Vehicle – 10944 San Pablo Ave 
The victim’s dark green 1997 Honda Civic was stolen from the parking lot of the apartment complex at 10944 San Pablo Avenue sometime between 7/26/12 at 0900 hours and 7/29/12 at 1500 hours. 

Commercial Burglary – 4010 El Cerrito Plaza 
Officers arrested a 25-year-old Oakland man after he entered the store and stole a cell phone from the display. Officers booked him at the Police Department and then took him to county jail. 

DUI and collision – Schmidt Lane and San Pablo Ave. 
While Officers investigated a battery that occurred in a neighboring jurisdiction, a 55-year-old El Cerrito woman collided with a light pole. Officers determined that she was under the influence. They arrested, booked and then released her. 

Assault with a deadly weapon – Wall St. and San Pablo Ave. 
Officers responded to a call of an assault. They found that the suspect struck a man in the back of the head with a blunt instrument. The victim was transported to the hospital for a laceration to his head. Officers did not locate the suspect. 

Recovered stolen vehicle – 3254 Pierce St. 
Officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle that was missing since July 14.
