Legendary ECHS teacher, football coach, and athletic director retires!

After thirty-one years of coaching football and twenty-six years of teaching at El Cerrito High School, a George Austin is retiring this June.
Since 1988, George has taught English, Mathematics, World History, American a History, International Problems, and, in the last eight years, Advanced Placement American Government.
With countless championship
football seasons under his belt, George fondly acknowledges the football team of 2006 as his strongest and most favorite  team.
Anyone who played a sport at ECHS between 1983 and 2014
owes George a debt of gratitude for his tireless work as Athletic Director.

George Austin is truly a class act as both a coach and educator. I had the privilege to coach both basketball and football with him and he earned the respect of countless players. He is a great person and a great friend and El Cerrito High will truly miss him. Good luck in all your future endeavors, George.
