Broken fire hydrant in front of the El Cerrito Plaza's CVS ran full blast for at least an hour. Hydrants put out 400-600 gallons per minute so this disaster must have sent more than 25,000 gallons of pure water right into the bay.
The El Cerrito Fire department jumped into the freezing water searching for the cut off valve and finally stopped the gusher.
