United Teachers of Richmond Educators Protest

West Contra Costa Unified educators will picket before and after school to draw attention to the local impacts of state budget cuts. Local labor groups and parents will picket during the school day.

From California Teachers Association:

The United Teachers of Richmond is mobilizing to highlight the destruction that is taking place in our schools and community by doing all-day picketing with parents and other labor groups on Tuesday in advance of the California Teacher Association’s ”State of Emergency” campaign May 9-13.

The protest is on the corner of San Pablo Avenue and Cutting Boulevard in Richmond. It’s part of the statewide campaign to pressure lawmakers to act now to extend current revenues to help close the state budget deficit. That campaign next week is coordinated by a broad coalition of educators, parents, students, labor groups and public workers.
