Fill a Bag – Feed Families / Letter Carriers Food Drive

Those who wish to donate non-perishable food items for the hungry are asked to leave them at their mailboxes Saturday before their regular mail delivery.

Letter carriers across the nation are conducting their annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive collecting food to give to local food banks.

"Donate items like canned meats, fish, soup, bottled juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice that do not require refrigeration," the National Association of Letter Carriers asks. "Please do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers."

The Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano says on its Web site, "The food collected will help us fill many empty tummies during the summer months when children are out of school without access to free meals."
