Talk: Late Summer Splendors of the Delta

"Late Summer Splendor of the Delta," a special two-hour
visual tour of the botanic wonders of the watery world where the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers meet,
introduces a new talk series, Bay Currents. The speaker, Dr. Steve
Edwards, is geologist, paleontologist, naturalist, and native-plant expert
who has headed the East Bay Regional Parks Botanic Garden for 30 years.

September is a superb time to "visit" the Delta -- since plants do not lack for
water, some of the showiest wildflowers are in bloom. This talk also is
valuable background for knotty decisions on the future of the Delta.

The free Bay Currents talks will
highlight Bay-area-related natural
history and environmental issues, with an emphasis on positive
solutions. The 2013 schedule is at http://www.fivecreeks.org/baycurrents/Fall13Flyer.pdf.

September's special evening begins with refreshments at 6:30 PM. The two-hour
presentation  -- with leg-stretching breaks -- begins promptly at 7 PM.
