Kensington Library Book Club-"Sula" by Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison’s novel is at once terrifying, comic, ribald and tragic. Two girls grow up as friends to become women and then become something worse than enemies. In this story, Toni Morrison tells the story of Nel Wright and Sula Peace, who meet as children in the small town of Medallion, Ohio. Their devotion is fierce enough to withstand bullies and the burden of a dreadful secret. It endures even after Nel has grown up to be a pillar of the black community and Sula has become a pariah. But their friendship ends in an unfortunate betrayal - or does it end?

Book club meetings are usually held on the fourth Monday of every month in the library at 7:00 p.m. Meetings start with a poem selected and read by a member with a brief discussion following the reading. New members are always welcome
