I just wanted to comment about how much I like the new mobiles/moving sculptures that have gone up on some of the street light posts along San Pablo Ave.. If I'm correct, this is a project of the El Cerrito Arts & Culture Commission (which I'm proud to say, I helped persuade the city to form and a commission that I had a seat on until my travels made it impossible for me to continue). Congratulations to that commission and to the city...and to Jonathan Russell and Saori Ide, the artists who created them...for bringing this great project to a happy conclusion.
As I drive down San Pablo Avenue, especially when I'm at a stoplight, I really enjoy looking at the mobiles/moving sculptures. I like to see which ones are moving, and how fast. I like their gilded glow and their interesting shapes.
I like THEM.
P.S. Thanks to Betty Buginas for sending me the names of the artists!
