Weekend Things: Practical Naps, Park Clean-Up, Free Concert and More

Governor Brown has proposed that the responsibility for some government services should be transferred from state to local control. Let your representative, State Senator Loni Hancock, and other officials know what you think at this community forum. If you cannot attend, a webcast of the event will be available.

Assane and Ousseyane Kouyate are brothers born and raised in Senegal and now perform all over the worlds combining traditional West African music with modern bass, keyboards and percussion instruments. This is the first of Point Richmond Free Summer Concert Series.

SATURDAY


The El Cerrito Green Teams are at it again, this time cleaning up the Cerrito Vista Park and the surrounding area, but they can't do it without you. Tools, gloves and supplies will be provided, so bring your enthusiasm, a water bottle and even the whole family (those under 18 may come with a guardian).
Where: Meet at Pomona Street near Moeser Lane.

The live cast of Barely Legal can give you a reason to stay up late in Albany with its monthly Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Albany Twin. Keep in mind that the show is for all ages and if Albany can handle it, so can you!

SUNDAY


This special 25-mile bike ride was organized by El Cerrito Police Department's own Patrol Sergeant Shawn D. Maples and benefits the Special Olympics. You can register the morning of ride to join in, or simply come for the opening ceremony to support other riders.
Where: Meet in the parking lot at the intersection of N. Court Street and Joe DiMaggio Drive, Martinez
When: Sunday, June 12, 8:30 a.m.
How much: $40 to register to ride


The San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival has been going strong for 33 years, but this is the first time it's crossing the bridge and offering a performance at the Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. Don't miss this opportunity to see Balinese, Middle Eastern, West African, Filipino and other ethnic dance companies on one stage.
