Weekend Things: 'Alberrito Streets,' Sci-Fi Group, Running Club, More

Have fun this weekend with a sci-fi book group, a newly founded running club and a big community block party for El Cerrito and Albany.

FRIDAY


Randy Rood owns Emeryville Recording Company which is a full service recording studio that has been in the Bay Area for 26 years. Come hear him play the rock music that he spends his time recording.

SATURDAY


The Alameda-Contra Costa Mavericks soccer league is the highest level of soccer that is available to youth in the two counties. Help them keep kicking the ball, building relationships and learning discipline and get your car washed at the same time.

SUNDAY

If you come out to one thing this weekend, make it this one. The cities of Albany and El Cerrito teamed up to bring you a day of fun in the sun and in the open streets free of car traffic. Bring a picnic, your bike, a hula hoop, chalk for hop scotch, a frisbee and those double-dutch ropes because this party will have lots of space for you to play in.

This will be the El Cerrito Running Club's first run, and participants will run down the Ohlone Greenway because it's flat and has lots of water fountains. No experience is necessary, but enthusiasm is required. The group will meet on the grass.

Paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry and textile arts will be represented at this at this growing art and wine walk in Pinole. Sip wine while you shop or just admire – both art and wine are good for the soul.
