PG&E said about 5,600 customers in El Cerrito, Kensington and Berkeley lost power during the storm Friday night.

Roughly 5,600 PG&E customers are currently without power in the East Bay, a utility spokesman said tonight (March 18).

Crews are investigating the cause of an outage north of the Berkeley hills that is affecting 1,800 customers, spokesman J.D. Guidi said. The outage started at 8:17 p.m.

Almost 4,000 people in El Cerrito, Kensington and Berkeley are in the dark because of an outage that started at 7:45 p.m., Guidi said.  A downed wire knocked out power to those 3,800 customers, Guidi said.
