Six Tips for Green Holidays

Here are few things you can do to preserve energy and other valuable resources during the holidays.

Here are some suggestions, courtesy of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, for creating a greener holiday season for you and your family.

  • Prevent clogs: don't put grease down the sink
  • Take reusable bags for shopping
  • Consider sending e-cards instead of paper
  • Use energy-efficient holiday lights
  • Real Christmas trees are better for the environment than artificial ones, especially if you choose a live tree to be replanted
  • Manufactured logs burn cleaner than wood

Of course, there are many other big and small steps people can take to make their celebrations more eco-friendly. Other tips are available at the blog Green Earth News. Please share any ideas you have with readers, too.
