-- 1100 block of Liberty Street (near Moeser shopping center): Burglars entered home through rear sliding glass door and stole electronics and jewelry before leaving through the front door.

-- 8100 block of Terrace Drive (near Shevlin): Burglar(s) pried open a hallway window and stole electronics and jewelry.

No calls to El Cerrito Police Department were returned inquiring about the high number of burglaries. However, the newsletter cites the department as saying it has seen a 44 percent increase in burglaries — residential, auto and commercial  this year.

Experts say warmer months often see an increase in this type of crime with residents vacationing and/or leaving windows and doors open this time of year.
