Get Out — Bluegrass, Seed Swap, March for Peace, More

Every Thursday, El Cerrito Patch brings offers options for you to get out and enjoy.

This weekend hear some bluegrass, attend a special weekend city council meeting, support the community at the March for Peace and catch a new flick at the Cerrito. 


  • Where/When:
    The Arlington, 260 Arlington Ave., Kensington. Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
    Why Go: This low key, relaxed venue is a full-service cafe and hosts live music every Friday. Come down to have a beer and hear some bluegrass.

  • Where/When:
    , 10890 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito. Saturday, 9 a.m.
    Why Go: While a city council meeting may not be your ideal way to spend a Saturday morning, this may just be cause to make an exception. Some big ideas on the city's mission, vision and core values will be discussed at this early hour. Come make your voice heard!

  • Where/When:
    Booker T. Anderson Park, 960 S. 47th St., Richmond. Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Why Go: Take a stand against violence in the community and attend this peaceful gathering which will include music, students speakers, a bar-b-que and community building exercises. The event follows in the wake of the killing of El Cerrito High School student Gene Grisby.
    Pricing: Free


  • Where/When:
    Ecology Center, 2530 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley. Friday, 7-9 p.m.
    Why Go: There will be a potluck dinner, hoedown music and of course, your home-grown seeds exchanged for something new. Learn more about BASIL and their work over this fun evening with the home gardener community.
    Pricing: Food and seeds to share or $10 donation

    Why Go: With the hype and glory of the Oscars behind us, now it's time to prepare for less serious summer blockbusters with two new films. The Adjustment Bureau is a political thriller starring Matt Damon, and Rango is a fun one for kids, starring the voice of Johnny Depp.
