Heat and Sun Protection Tips From County Health Officials

Here are some tips from the Contra Costa County health department for staying cool and safe while the temperature rises.

Ah, summer. After a frustrating false start, including cold and wet weather, summertime appears to have arrived. It has brought it with the commensurate warm weather, which is great in theory. But in practice, hot weather can be dangerous if you don't take the proper precautions to protect yourself.

The best, and simplest, things to do are stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and stay cool by remaining indoors or in the shade, or better yet, seeking out places that have air conditioning (movie theaters, the mall, etc.). Wear protective clothing and hats, and be sure to use plenty of sun screen.

Here are some tips from the Contra Costa Health Services on staying cool and healthy this summer.
