BART, Unions Return to Talks … in Separate Locations
Bay Area Rapid Transit representatives and members from its two biggest labor unions are back at the table again – but this time separately.
Bay City News reports the two sides are meeting separately with state mediators today and will resume formal negotiations this Friday. Today's talks are the first since late Thursday, when management and the unions agreed to extend the union's existing contract for 30 days.
BART spokesman Rick Rice said state mediators will determine the format of formal negotiations, which resume this Friday. He said the talks could be face-to-face or mediators could decide to shuttle back and forth between the two sides to trade proposals.
