Off the Grid gears up for (official) launch in El Cerrito

This Wednesday evening, July 17th from 5p-9p, Off the Grid: El Cerrito will (officially) launch at its ongoing location at Fairmount Ave, between Carlson & San Pablo.  Last Wednesday's 'soft launch' saw a strong turnout of nearly 2,000 residents and foodies.  Folks navigated the longish waits and meandering criss-cross lines to feast on everything from Peruvian street food to 'Peasant food' (at Go Streatery).

This week's truck line up is a new collection of epicurian fare: Arki Truck(fried chicken & beignets), Doc's of the Bay(burgers/comfort food), Hapa SF(Filipino), Kinder's(BBQ), Kung Fu Tacos(Chinese/Mexican), Lexie's Frozen Custard, Liba Falafel, Seoul on Wheels(Korean), The Chairman(Bao Buns/Chinese), and Yummi BBQ.

The food trucks will work in a two-week-rotation of trucks, so if you were there last Wednesday, you'll get a whole new choice this week, and then rotate back to the first collection of trucks the week after.  I met locals last week who hadn't been to food trucks like these at all, and others who were notified and follow Off the Grid's Facebook page,  facebook.com/OffTheGridSF

There was a good vibe despite some of the longer waits.  Having stanchions might save and organize the space better, and also allow for strollers.  I'm one of the guilty who brings a stroller many places for my 2yr old.  He enjoys the music and the food just as much as I do.

Off the Grid: El Cerrito will continue every Wed. night from 5p-9p.  There is parking available at the Mechanics Bank across the street after 5pm.  If you're sporting any musical talent, be sure to connect with Off the Grid folks, as it's always great to get local music in future weekly markets.
