Networking, Info Fair for Local Contractors

Second annual event offers assistance to West Contra Costa County businesses.

Local contractors are invited to an event designed to teach local businesses how to do business with the West Contra Costa County Unified School District, other public agencies and corporations.

The Contractor Opportunities Fair will be held 4-7 p.m. on June 7 at the Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South, in Richmond. More than 200 local contractors are expected to attend.

The Local Economic Development Initiative, which is a project of the non-profit Business Development Center, has partnered with the school district's Local Capacity Program to host the event. The school district is currently engaged in massive school reconstruction projects, funded by voter-approved bonds. The fair agenda includes:

  • Access to Capital Fair. Business owners will hear from local lenders on how to access capital for their business’ needs.
  • West Contra Costa Unified School District’s Local Capacity Building Program. Contractors will learn the ins and outs of contracting with the school district.
  • Networking Fair. This portion of the program will provide contractors the opportunity to meet public agency representatives, prime contractors and major corporations for potential procurement opportunities.

Participating agencies last year included: BART, EBMUD, Cal Trans, Chevron and several local cities and school districts. Attached is the registration form for those who would like to reserve a table at the Networking Fair. The company networking portion will take place 6-7 p.m. Participants are asked to set up their tables between 12 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.  See the attached registration form to reserve a table, or to forward it to an appropriate party.
