Update: Shooting at El Cerrito Plaza BART, Station Reopened

-By Bay City News

A shooting this morning at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station sent a man to the hospital and shut down the station, a BART spokesman said. The station reopened shortly before 1 p.m.

BART police responded to a report of shots fired at the station around 11:20 a.m. A short time later, a man approached a station agent's booth with an apparent gunshot wound, agency spokesman Jim Allison said.

The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. An update on his condition was not immediately available.

BART police were still searching for the shooting suspect as of 12:25 p.m.

The El Cerrito Plaza station remains closed while police investigate the shooting and trains are not stopping there, Allison said.
