Sidewalk Party at Night for Artists and Art Lovers

The Stockton Avenue Art Stroll is a modest-sized event with a big heart.

Several dozen people enjoyed two enchanted hours in a strolling soiree among open shops on the upper two blocks of Stockton Avenue in El Cerrito last night.

Accompanied by musicians performing a variety of tunes in a three or four clusters along the sidewalk, participants chatted and wandered in relaxed revery in and out of several shops that offered free snacks and wine.

The event was aptly anchored at one end by the Well Grounded Tea & Coffee Bar and at the other by The Glenn frame shop and art gallery, who respective proprietors, Kevin O'Neal and Kathleen Glenn, share the honor of having been named a person of the year by the El Cerrito Rotary Club for their roles in establishing the art stroll.

Jen Komaromi, who operates the Jenny K gift shop next door to Well Grounded, and Pam Fingado of Fingado Art Gallery a few doors up, were among those thanked in the stroll flyer for their help in hosting the event.

This is the third year for the Stockton Avenue Art Stroll, held in conjunction with the El Cerrito Art Association, and this year it was held on three dates: last night, July 9 and May 14.
