What's Open, What's Closed on New Year's

Check out holiday hours and schedules for government offices, schools and public transit for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

City of El Cerrito: City Hall, Community Center, Recycling Center are closed on Dec. 31. City Hall, Community Center, Recycling Center, Senior Center, police administration and fire administration are closed on Jan. 1. 

Contra Costa County Library:
All libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. All libraries will be closed on Jan. 1. 

Contra Costa County, state and federal offices: 
Administrative offices are open on Dec. 31 and closed on Jan. 1.

BART: BART will run a normal weekday schedule on Dec. 31 but will extend evening service until 3 a.m. Trains will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule on Jan. 1, with service beginning at 8 a.m. See the BART website for more information.

AC Transit: On Tuesday, Dec. 31, all AC Transit local and transbay lines will operate on regular schedules. On Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, in observance of the New Year’s holiday, all AC Transit local and transbay lines will operate on Sunday schedules.

SF Bay Ferry: San Francisco Bay Ferry will provide normal weekday service on Tuesday, Dec. 31. There is no ferry service on Wednesday, Jan. 1. See the SF Bay Ferry website for more information.

Banks: Open Dec. 31, closed on Jan. 1.

Stores, businesses: Varies. Most restaurants and taverns and some retail stores will be open on New Year's Day.
