What's Open, What's Closed for the Holidays

Here are holiday schedules in El Cerrito.

Check below for the holiday hours of various offices, businesses and facilities in El Cerrito:

El Cerrito city offices: Closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 1.

El Cerrito Recycling Center: Closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Note also, that the center's winter closing time on other days is now 4:45 p.m. through March 1. 

El Cerrito Swim Center: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, modified holiday schedule on other days.

El Cerrito Public Library (and other libraries in the Contra Costa County Library System): Closed Sunday, Dec. 23, through, Tuesday, Dec. 25; closed at 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31; closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

WCC Unified School District: Winter break, Dec. 17-Jan. 1. Classes resume Jan. 2. District offices closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.

Garbage, green waste and Christmas tree pick-up: No garbage and green waste pick-up Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. "During those weeks," says East Bay Sanitary, "for customers whose collection day falls on or after the holiday, pickup will be one day late." East Sanitary also says unflocked Christmas trees – with stands and all ornaments removed – will be picked up on green waste pick-up days until Jan. 18. The company requests that trees be cut and placed in the green waste bins when possible.

Department of Motor Vehicles and other state of California offices, federal offices: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Banks: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Stores, businesses: Varies.

We are also a GREAT PLACE to VOLUNTEER if you need some volunteer hours for school, especially if you were supposed to have the hours done by the end of the year :).

Great news about Playland -- especially with all this rain! To clarify about garbage, green waste, and recycling pickup -- if my pickup is Friday, it will happen Saturday?
