The Week Ahead: Recycling Tour, Food Trucks, Creek Cleanup

Some the things coming up this week in the El Cerrito area

The El Cerrito City Council has a light agenda for its meeting on Tuesday night. There are no public hearings scheduled. The only action item is the approval of an agreement with Westamerica Bank for $5 million in tax anticipation notes. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Ave.

On Wednesday afternoon, city officials will conduct a tour of the El Cerrito Recycling and Environment Resource Center, 5701 Schmidt Lane. Residents can learn what materials are accepted into the center and how employees handle the various items. The hour-long tour begins promptly at 3 p.m.

On Wednesday evening, the Off the Grid food trucks will make their weekly appearance on Fairmont Avenue between San Pablo Avenue and Carlson Boulevard. The El Cerrito market began in July. It's one of 22 in the Bay Area organized by Off the Grid.

On Saturday morning, a work party will be held for Baxter Creek. The cleanup will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers should meet at Ohlone Greenway and Conlon Avenue. Workers will pick up litter and maintain the landscape of the greenbelt.

The El Cerrito Plaza Farmers Market is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Saturday at the shopping center.

There are also a number of fall classes and activities sponsored by the El Cerrito Recreation Department. Check their website for more information.
