Albany and El Cerrito shared a new municipal park of sorts Sunday when Key Route Boulevard and Ashbury Avenue were temporarily closed for the "Alberrito Streets" block party.

We hope you enjoy these scenes from Sunday's "," a shared street party between Albany and El Cerrito. The street was  closed for fun and games throughout the afternoon. .

Patch had a table at the festival, published photos during the event and sponsored the Albany-El Cerrito tug-of-war, which Albany residents won.

Other activities included Zumba lessons, a chalk art gallery, Street Sports Smoothies compliments of Strollers & Rollers, juggling, and a tightrope and slackline from Bridges Rock Gym.

The Alberrito Block Party was super great! I hope the two cities sponsor more of these in the future. It was inspiring to see the neighbors and new friends participate in wholesome activities for the entire family and the live music was a wonderful component.

What a great instant park the median strip along Key Route/Ashbury made! Thanks to those residents who put up with the inconvenience of having their street closed for a few hours so that Albany and El Cerrito residents could enjoy a lovely afternoon of meeting their neighbors and having fun. Congrats to Albany and El Cerrito city staff for making this such a well planned and fun event, and to the many community organizations who participated. I learned a lot about exciting things going on in my community.

I'm surprised the video (sound) turned out as well as it did. What a great band! Anyone know its name?

The band is named "Survival Groove". I am the trombone player... I live in El Cerrito and this was our first performance at a city event. Thank you for the compliment!
