Community Corner

Stay cool, learn crafts, help your community all under one roof this weekend

The weather forecast for this weekend is “hot and more hot,” so the best place to be is inside. And a great place to be is the El Cerrito Library where you can not only stay cool, but you can learn something new and/or help your community.

On Saturday, June 29, children ages 5 and up can take part in a free Origami Time. They will learn basic and intermediate origami folding techniques from special guest, Ayyan Ali – a fifth-grader at Madera Elementary School. Begins at 11 a.m. Supplies provided by the Friends of the El Cerrito Library.

Support your community and your local library by volunteering at the El Cerrito Library. Pick up an application and get started with a Volunteer Orientation at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 29. You will tour the library with a trained staff. Ideal for teens 12 to 17, adults and seniors.
